Sedition case filed against imprisoned 22 Jamaat leaders

Sedition case filed on Sunday afternoon against earlier imprisoned twenty-two leaders and activists of Jamaat E Islami Bangladesh including Amir, Nayebey Amir, secretary of JIB Barisal city unit.
The case was lodged after a fax from home ministry reached Barisal on Sunday morning giving approval for lodging that case.
Shakhawat Hossain, Barisal Kotwali police station officer in charge, as complainant filed the case no.79/14 under section 120-kha/124-ka of sedition act.
In the case the complainant alleged that the accused JIB leaders and activists involved in an anti-state conspiracy and planning for sabotage activities against the state.
Matiur Rahman, officer in charge (investigation), appointed as investigation officer of the case.
Shakhawat Hossain, complainant of the case, said police arrested the accused 22 JIB leaders and activists after raiding first floor of the house named ‘Doctors Quarter’ owned by Dr. Majed Ali at South Alekanda area of the city on August 14 night for alleged planning sabotage on National Mourning Day.
