Education Minister Nurul Islam Nahid yesterday said the government will strengthen security to hold Higher Secondary Certificate (HSC) and its equivalent examinations peacefully.
“Law enforcers have been asked to tighten their security during the HSC and equivalent examinations to foil any ill attempt of vested quarters as they may try to create disturbance to misguide the examinees,” he told a meeting on “Law and order for HSC examinations” at the Education Ministry here.
Director General of Directorate of Secondary and Higher Secondary Education Prof Fahima Khatun, chairmen of different education boards, officials of various government departments and law enforcement agencies, among others, attended the meeting.
Nahid said, “We struggled to reschedule SSC examinations due to frequent hartals and blockades enforced by BNP-led 20-party alliance. With concerted efforts of all, we have been able to complete SSC examinations in a peaceful manner.”
He hoped that the HSC examinations will be held as per schedule and all necessary preparations have been taken to hold the examinations uninterrupted.
Tougher action will be taken against the persons who will be found guilty for question paper leakage and other malpractices aiming to misguide examinees, he said adding, law enforcers will keep sharp vigils to resist any ill attempt to launch propaganda on the upcoming HSC examinations.
The minister urged the guardians and examinees not to be misguided by any quarter as they may try to create confusions over the examinations by launching propaganda through facebook, mobile phones and different other ways.
At the meeting, the HSC or equivalent examinations slated for April 26 and 28 have been postponed due to the elections of Dhaka and Chittagong city corporations. Schedules of postponed examinations will be announced later.
