Security to be beefed up on Nat’l Mourning Day

Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan on Tuesday said all measures would be taken to ensure foolproof security in the capital and elsewhere on the occasion of National Mourning Day on August 15.
“We will strengthen security measures in the capital and elsewhere of the country with deployment of adequate security personnel on the occasion of the National Mourning Day, marking the 42nd martyrdom of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman on August 15,” he told newsmen after an inter-ministerial meeting on law and order at his ministry’s conference room.
Inspector General of Police (IGP) AKM Shahidul Hoque, public security division secretary Dr Kamal Uddin Ahmed, RAB Director General Benzir Ahmed, DMP Commissioner Asaduzzaman Miah, Fire service and Civil Defence Director General Brigadier General Ali Ahmed Khan, representatives from other ministries were present in the meeting.
The minister said adequate number of close circuit television cameras (CCTVs) would be installed at different points to ensure security because hundreds of thousands of people from all strata of life with due respect would pay rich tribute to Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman on his 42nd anniversary of martyrdom.
He said members of law enforcement agencies including police, anti-crime elite force Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) and different intelligence agencies, both in uniform and plain clothes would remain alert to prevent any untoward incident on the day.
