The security measures in the port city beefed up recently following the dismissal of the review petition of death row convicts against humanity BNP leader Salahuddin Quader Chowdhury and the Jamaat Secretary General Ali Ahsan Mojaheed by the Supreme Court Appellate Division recently .
A meeting in connection for further strengthening the security measures in the city was arranged a CMP headquarters with Police Commissioner Abdul Jalil Mondal in the chair yesterday at 3 pm. Senior CMP officials and Officer- In-charges of 16 CMP thanas were present in the meeting.
The meeting was told that to avoid any sorts of nuisance, anarchy, and violence in the city as elsewhere in the district following the execution of the death sentence of the war crime , additional police forces accompanied with RAB, BGB forces will be deployed in Chittagong city and in district areas .
Mentionable that joint forces have been deployed in the city from Monday last and checkposts installed in important points of the city and entrance points of the city , CMP sources said.
Checkposts in vulnerable points in city randomly searching the suspected persons, motorbikes coming from outside the city.
Lawenforcers are searching passenger buses, minibuses, motorbikes, CNG autro-rickshaws in every checkposts at entry points of the city.
Additonal forces were deployed at city gate, oxygen crossing, Mohra, Maijertek points in the city, sources said.
Additional Police Commissioner Mr.Debdash Bhattachariya told that CMP has taken stern measures to tackle any unwanted situation and random checking continuing in the checkposts in the city. Security forces have also been deployed infront of the hill residence of Salahuddin Quader Chowdhury in Chittagong .
Meanwhile Additional Police Super of Chittagong district Naimul Hasan told the media that they yet to receive any directives about the execution of the death row convicts Salahuddin Quader chowdhury , however from early yesterday all officer in-charges of all thanas in Chittagong district asked to keep vigilance over the situation to avoid any nuisances.
He further said additional forces of 100 in each thana have been deployed earlier and if necessary more will be deployed .
He further told that 6 platoons of BGB members have been kept ready to face in untoward situations in the district over the execution of Salahuddin Quader Chowdhry.
