The law enforcing agencies have tightened security in the city’s Central Shaheed Minar and other parts of the country ahead of February 21, for smooth observation of the International Mother Language Day.
Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) Director General (DG) Benazir Ahmed has said a three-tier security measure has been taken dividing the Central Shaheed Minar into five sectors for smooth observation of the International Mother Language Day.
The RAB chief made the comments while addressing the press after his visit to the Central Shaheed Minar on Thursday.
He said, “Safety and security is just a regular part of our daily life like the oxygen that we breathe. We have taken necessary steps for such an important event so that the huge number of people attending can feel comfortable and confident.”
Mentioning that global standards are being maintained for the security and safety of the people of the country, he said, “Multi-faceted security measures have been taken to ensure a peaceful celebration of Amar Ekushey.”
“Our members will patrol on foot and on motorcycles, there will be plainclothes surveillance and the dog squad will also be deployed too.”
RAB has also taken adequate security measures for Amar Ekushey programs in important areas outside Dhaka and will also closely monitor everything there, he added.
Meanwhile, Dhaka Metropolitan Police Commissioner has drawn up a four-tier security.
