The Paramilitary Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) has been deployed in five districts of Chittagong division for maintaining law and order during the Durga Puja–the largest religious festival of the Hindu community.
The districts are Chittagong, Rangamati, Khagrachhari, Bandarban and Cox’s Bazar.
Lieutenant Colonel Nasir Uddin Ekram, Director (Operation) of BGB South- East Zone, confirmed this to the reporters on Saturday. “BGB would remain vigilant until the end of Durga Puja,” he said.
“We are not facing any security threat from any quarters. Yet the intelligence community are alert at all strategic points,” the BGB official said.
“We will take immediate action if any threat comes from any quarter,” he said without specifying how many platoons of BGB will be deployed in and around the division.
