Security beefed up in Sylhet for Eid-ul-Azha

Sylhet Metropolitan and District Police have taken stringent security measures for peaceful celebration of Eid-ul-Azha. One of the major religious festivals of Muslims, will be celebrated across the country, including Sylhet, on July 10 (Sunday). Police are preparing to provide full security in Sylhet metropolitan for the upcoming Eid.
Sylhet Metropolitan Police (SMP) Commissioner Nisharul Arif said steps are being taken to prevent any possible attempt to smuggle rawhides from Sylhet on the Eid day and after. This is why none would be permitted to take unprocessed rawhides from the Sylhet city and its adjoining areas that time.
He however assured of providing all out assistance to the skin traders. The official also said sufficient number of mobile teams of lawmen would be deployed to prevent all petty crimes on the roads while assuring strong action against extortion of all types from the cattle head traders as well as the rawhide traders.
Police would be vigilant to prevent all unwanted incidents and help safe transportation of the sacrificial animals at all points now on.
He said that on the occasion of Eid-ul-Adha, not only law and order situation has been brought under control, but also all steps have been taken to ensure safe movement of train buses and other vehicles and more safety of passengers. The SMP commissioner said traffic control and management, security of Eid Jamaat and prevention of misuse of counterfeit money; Special security measures have been taken to prevent extortion, looting and terrorist activities.
He urged everyone to be vigilant about the activities of pickpockets, ointment parties and unconscious parties at railway stations and buses.
He said strict instructions have been given to the members of law enforcement agencies including police, RAB and various intelligence agencies to prevent all kinds of misdeeds.
Regarding the security of the cattle market, he said the police are working to ensure the safety of 12 permanent and 6 temporary cattle markets in Sylhet metropolitan.
He also said that besides Bangladesh Bank, the police are also working hard to identify counterfeit money.
Noting that the police are on high alert to control the Eid-ul-Adha and subsequent law and order situation, Nisharul Arif further said, “I have not heard of any criminal activities centering on Eid-ul-Adha.” We want everyone to celebrate Eid in happiness and peace.
All set to celebrate Eid-ul-Azha in Rajshahi
BSS, Rajshahi : Rajshahi City Corporation (RCC), District Administration and all other organisations concerned have chalked out elaborate programmes to celebrate the holy Eid-ul-Azha in the city with due fervor and enthusiasm.
The main Eid-jamaat will be held at Shah Makhdum Central Eidgah Maidan at 8 am. However, subject to inclement weather, the ever biggest Eid congregation here will be held at Dargah Mosque.
The second and third largest congregations will be held at Tikapara Eidgah Maidan and Shaheb Bazar Zero Point at 8.15 am and 8.30 am respectively.
The other Eid-jamaats will be held at Rajshahi University, Rajshahi University of Engineering and Technology, Rajshahi Court Eidgah, Rajshahi Stadium, Shalbagan Eidgah, New Market Jame Mosque, Police Line Math, Upashahar Eidgah Maidan and Rajarhata Jame Mosque.
Over 150 Eid-ul-Azha jamaats are scheduled to be held at the traditional and temporary venues in the Rajshahi metropolis under the supervision of the respective Eid jamaat committees.
To make the city’s Eid congregations a success, Rajshahi City Corporation (RCC) is extending necessary cooperation for making arrangements of about 100 Eid jamaat’s decorations.
The city corporation will decorate the entire city roads and islands with national flags and banners inscribed with “Eid-Mubarak” in Bangla and Arabic.
Rajshahi Metropolitan Police and RAB have taken all-out security measures for the peaceful celebration of Eid-ul-Azha.
Marking the celebration, special diets will be served to the inmates of different hospitals, jails and Government Shishu Sadan.
On Eid day, RCC has selected 210 spots for slaughtering sacrificial animals in 30 Wards of the city.
The city corporation authority urged the city dwellers to use only the selected places for the purposes in the greater interest of making the metropolis along with its air and water free from pollution and other contamination.
The RCC is determined to ensure safe removal of sacrificial animal waste within the night followed by the Eid day from the city and it has adopted massive measures to this end.
The Eid holiday of all the officers and staff of the conservancy section has been cancelled, said Chief Guest.
