Security beefed up in Sylhet ahead of Ramzan

The Sylhet Metropolitan Police authorities have taken tight security measures for the ensuing Ramzan likely to be celebrated across the Sylhet Area in 2016.
To make the security effective, the police had set up close circuit (CC) cameras at all important places specially Markets, Banks, Stations and city’s entry points.
Police also set up two control rooms at SMP headquarter and Special Branch of SMP.
Deputy Additional Commissioner of SMP Rahmotullah told , SMP authorities has taken a bundle security measures during Ramzan and ahead of Eid-ul-Fitr.
A total of 1500 police including detective and plain cloths police were deployed at all the Markets, Shopping Malls, in front of different Banks, Railway Station, Bus terminal areas and busiest public places for ensuring security of people.
At least sixteen check posts will be set up at different points including city’s entry points, he said adding that DB police has already deployed with mobile devices in front of Banks, Financial organizations and Eid Markets.
Two platoons’ police will be deployed before and after the Eid-Jamaat at the city’s main Eidghah at Shahi Edgha Ground while one platoon police will be deployed at all important Eidghah belt. One section of police will be deployed at all important Eidgah in the city before and after the Eid Jamaat, he said.
The police also will be checked and swiped at all important Eidgah before the night of Eid-ul-Fitr, he added.
SMP authorities also have asked the city dwellers, businessmen and Bank officials to take police escort to carry cash from one place to another he said adding that steps will also been taken for improving the road traffic system to ease the sufferings of shoppers and home coming people ahead of Eid.
