Sylhet Metropolitan Police (SMP) authorities have taken tight security measures for smoothly celebrating Eid-ul-Fitr, the biggest religious festival of Muslims across the country.
To ensure tight and effective security, the police department has set up Closed Circuit (CC) cameras at important places, especially near the markets, banks, railway stations and the city’s entry points.
Police also set up two control rooms at SMP headquarter and its special branch.
SMP ADC Jedan Al-Mosa said the SMP authorities took a bunch of security measures during Ramadan and ahead of the Eid.
A total of 2,000 police personnel including detective and plain clothes police were deployed at the city markets, shopping malls, in front of different banks, railway station, bus and launch terminals and the busy public places for ensuring security of the people.
At least sixteen check posts will be set up at different points including the city’s entry points seven days ahead of Eid,
Additional Commissioner (AC) of SMP said, adding that the DB police were already deployed with mobile devices in front of the banks, financial organizations and Eid markets.
Two platoons of police will be deployed before and after the Eid Jamaat at the city’s main Eidgah on the Shahi Eidgah Ground while one platoon police will be at all important Eidgah.
Alam Sarowar Tito from Kishoreganj adds: Kishoreganj District Administration has tightened the security measures in the district town and its adjoining areas for ensuring a pleasant Eid-ul-Fitr celebration scheduled to be held on June 2627.
The special decision was taken at a meeting held at local Collectorate Conference room with District Magistrate Md Azimuddin Biswas in the chair. Police Super Md Anower Hossain Khan, ADM Md. Abdul Awal, RAB- 14 Commanding Officer, District Answer Commandant, UNO’s and Detective Branch of Police attended the meeting.
The police and RAB ensure security to all the buyers and sellers at the shopping markets.
To make the security effective police setup a control room at shopping malls and market in the town. Special attention would be given to securing areas in and around the cattle markets, shopping mall where huge money, transitions usually widen scope for opportunist criminals.
SP Md Anower Hossain Khan directed his officials to identify and take action against muggers prick-pockets and doping gangs.
SP also said that, foolproof security measures have also been ensured by the district police to keep law and order situation under control in and around at all cattle markets.
As part of other security measures, RAB would set up close-circuit television (CCTV) cameras, spy sunglass, counterfeit currency detestation machines at the shopping mall, Railway station, Bus terminal.
Police will also patrol at all vulnerable roads and highway points to check extortion, snatching, pick-pocketing, harassment of the cattle traders and buyers,” he added.
