Civil Aviation and Tourism Minister Rashed Khan Menon said that security would be tightened at the Ashkona Hajj camp.
The minister said it after attending a inter-ministerial meeting at his secretariat on Wednesday.
“In view of the recent terror attacks, the security measure has been geared up at the Hajj camp. The Hajj agencies can enter by showing gate pass. There will be no chance for the relatives to make crowd inside the camp premises for security reason. Highest security will be ensured,” said the minister.
“Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina will inaugurate the Hajj camp on August 3 this year. Bangladesh Biman Hajj flights begin from August 4 and the Saudia Airlines flights operate from August 5,” the minister added.
Replying to query about Hajj flight syndicate, the minister said, Religious Affairs Secretary and Biman Secretary have been asked to look after the matter so that the unscrupulous people can not do trade with tickets.
As per the amended policy and package, a total of 101,758 pilgrims will perform Hajj from Bangladesh this year. The number was 1,13,868 in the earlier policy and package.
Under the revised package, some 10,000 pilgrims would perform Hajj from Bangladesh under the government management instead of 5,000, while 91,758 pilgrims would perform Hajj under the private management instead of 1,08,868.
