Security ahead of Eid, Puja

Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) has chalked out a plan to provide full security of Eid-ul-Azha and Durga Puja.
As part of the plan, it has deployed adequate number of law enforcing members at over 500 points including 19 entry points of the capital.
Police, RAB and Ansar have already started operations and set up check posts at the entry points of the city to maintain congenial atmosphere and to prevent any unwanted situation, Police sources said.
The elite force RAB has taken a four-tier security measure and is patrolling the Puja Mandap areas, sources said.
The RAB members also kept alert its dog squad and bomb disposal units, they said. State Minister for Home Affairs Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal on Tuesday told the reporters at his office that the government had taken decision to set up watch towers to ensure safety and proper vehicular movement on the highways during the festivals.
The minister said that night vision cameras and binoculars will be kept on the watch towers so that the law enforcers can monitor the activities on the highways during Eid and Puja and take steps if they sense untoward situations.”
 “Close circuit cameras will be set up in the 14 entry and exist points of Dhaka to ensure security during the two religious occasions,” he said.
The minister also urged the owners of buildings, markets and organisations to install CC cameras as a part of their own security measures.
Kamal said, RAB, police and Ansar will ensure the security across the country during this period. Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) has also been kept ready to meet the emergency.
DMP Commissioner Benzir Ahmed said at a press briefing on Sunday said that sufficient cop members had been deployed at the Puja Mandaps across the city.
Besides, four striking and 15 mobile forces will stay vigilant during the festival season, he said.
He said that fake note detecting machines would be installed in all cattle markets and shopping malls to check fake notes as there is a possibility of circulation of counterfeit fake notes in the cattle markets.
The DMP boss also said police will remain vigilant for ensuring security of the empty houses, banks, hospitals and other institutions during the Eid vacation.
DMP Additional Commissioner Saidur Rhman said that the police and other law enforcing agencies already have started their security activities across the capital.
He said that a good number of plain clothed law enforcers have also been deployed in the city ahead of Eid-ul-Azha and Durga Puja.
RAB Media and Legal Wing Director Mufti Mahmud Khan told the reporters at press briefing in city on Tuesday that RAB conducted a drill of its dog squad and bomb disposal unit in city’s Puja Mandaps.
On the Puja and Eid occasions, the elite force has increased their patrolling throughout the city.
