Kishoreganj local administration on Saturday imposed Section 144 sine die in Pakundia upazila headquarters and its adjacent areas after the two factions of the ruling Awami League (AL) announced their programmes in the same ground at the same time.
The administration has banned meeting, procession and rally in and around Pakundia Pilot Girls High School, Pakundia Pilot High School, Pakundia Degree College, Women College, Pakundia Bazar, Poura area and nearby areas of the upazila.

AL activists led by upazila unit Joint Convenor and also Upazila Parishad Chairman Rafiqul Islam Renu called a meeting on Pakundia Pilot Girls High School premises at 10 am on Saturday. On the same premises, another fraction of BCL and Sramik League backed by MP Advocate Suhrab Uddin declared their programme at the same time.
“Pakundia Upazila Nirbahi Officer Mosharraf Hossain imposed Section 144 to avert any untoward situation. The restriction was enforced from Friday midnight and it will be continued until further order.”
Administration also deployed the additional members of police and Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) in the areas to meet emergencies.
