Real-life couple in the US who has been happily married for the past 70 years has revealed love as their secret to a long and successful marriage.
Jean and Lawrence Lyford told WLBZ News in Bangor, Maine, that they met in 1936 when they were in high school and tied the knot in 1944, the Huffington Post reported.
While Lawrence said that he proposed with a diamond ring, Jean added that she has always kept the ring, her wedding ring which she never takes off, and the love letters her hubby wrote to her while he was serving in the military during WWII.
When asked what makes their marriage so strong, Jean said that they were meant to be and Lawrence asserted that love kept their relationship going, adding that they love each other immensely and always have.
