Chittagong Abahani Limited recorded their second successive victory in the KFC Independence Cup Football beating ten men Uttar Baridhara Sporting club by 2-1 goals in the group A match held on Monday at the Bangabandhu National Stadium here.
Uttar Baridhara was reduced to ten men in the 12th minute when their Nigerian midfielder Kosoko Olasukanmi was shown a direct red card for his unsporting behavior with the referee Jalaluddin.
In the day’s match, a bunch of Chittagong Abahani failed to send the ball home off a curved corner taken by Jahid Hossain in the 17th minute.
Jahid again failed to give Abahani a deserving lead in the 35th minute as he carried a Fabrice Noel through but the ball went straight to Baridhara custodian M. Razib’s lap.
In the injury time minute of the first half Baridhara midfielder Rohit Sarker saw his powerful right footer from the top right corner of the box missed the target.
After the resumption, Jahid Hossain finally able to broke the gridlock in the 49th minute as his well judge header from an angle beat Baridhara custodian Razib under the bar (1-0).
Four minute later Chittagong Abahani’s Moroccan midfielder Tarik el Janabi missed an easy chance in the 53rd minute as his header on a low cross off Jahid Hossain narrowly missed the sidebar.
However, Fabrice Noel, the Haitian forward doubled the lead in the 61s with a tap from far post net before carrying a through pass of Jahid Hossian (2-0).
Khalekuzzaman Shobuj scored puled one back for Uttar Baridhara in the 90th minute. Taking ball from top of the box Shobuj dribbling past two opponent defenders and sent the ball into the net (2-1).
