New Zealand piled up 349 for the loss of one wicket on the first day of the second Test against Bangladesh at Christchurch in New Zealand on Sunday.
New Zealand had a good start as the two openers Tom Latham and Will Young put on together 148 runs in the opening stand before Will Young was caught at the point by Mohammad Naim off Shoriful Islam.
After Will Young’s dismissal, Tom Latham and Devon Conway added together 201 runs for the unbroken second wicket partnership before the two umpires pocketed the bails for the first day.
Tom Latham remained unbeaten with 186. His 278-ball innings was decorated with 28 fours.
Latham reached his 12th Test hundred-run landmark playing 133 deliveries with 17 fours.
Latham fulfilled his 50-run landmark using 65 balls including nine fours.
Devon Conway remained unbeaten with 99. His 148-ball innings saw 10 fours and a sixer.
Conway fulfilled his half-century capitalizing 83 balls with five fours and a sixer. It was Conway’s third half-century in Test cricket.
Will Young knocked a painstaking 54. His 114-ball innings was ornamented with five fours. Will Young reached the fifty-run landmark utilizing 98 deliveries hitting five fours. It was Will Young’s fifth half-century in Test cricket. He stayed 176 minutes at the crease.
Left-arm pacer Shoriful Islam was the only bowler of the touring side who got success with the cherry. He took one wicket for 50 runs.
New Zealand batsmen played chanceless batting and totally dominated the first day of the second Test.
