Second Summer Youth Olympics Games kicks off

The second Summer Youth Olympics Games began on Saturday with sparkling opening ceremony in the eastern Chinese city of Nanjing.
More than 3,700 competitors aged between 15 and 18 compete the mega event participated by 204 countries.
Chinese President Xi Jinping attended the opening ceremony, according to ctvNEWS. The host country are providing the biggest team comprised of 123 athletes.
Of 28 sports disciplines in the Youth Olympics, Bangladesh will compete in five disciplines-Shooting, Swimming, Archery, Hockey and Weightlifting.
With the hope of doing well in shooting, Archery and hockey, a 23-member Bangladesh contingent left Dhaka for Nanjing early Friday to participate in the event.
Bangladesh youth hockey team captain Rezaul Karim Babu will carry the national flag in the Youth Olympics.
Bangladesh is in Pool A of the Youth Olympics Hockey with Australia, Canada, South Africa and Spain while Pool B team comprises Germany, Mexico, New Zealand, Pakistan and Zambia.
Bangladesh will play Spain on Aug 17, Australia on Aug 18, Canada on Aug 19 and South Africa on Aug 20.
Vice President of Bangladesh Olympic Association (BOA) Rafia Akhter Dolly is chef de mission of Bangladesh contingent comprising 13 athletes, five team officials and five contingent officials.
Bangladesh contingent: Shooting – Sharmin Akhter (10m air rifle), team official – Abdus Salam Khan; Swimming – M Asif Reza (50m freestyle), team official – Jatindra Nath Biswas,; Archery – Prennoy Murong (individual recurve bow) , team official – Myunkwon Park; Weightlifting – Zohura Akhter Reshma (48kg), team official – Mrs Shahriar Sultana;
Hockey Team – Rezaul Karim Babu, M Raju Ahmed, M Fazle Hosain Rabbi, Sajubur Rahman, Khalid Mahmud Rakin, M Naimuddin, Deen Islam Emon, M Ashraful Islam, and M.Roman Sarkar; Officials – Khawja Rahmatullah and M Kawser Ali.
Contingent members: Syed Shahed Reza (BOA secretary general), Mrs Rafia Akhter Dolly (chef de mission), M Farhadur Rahman (young ambassador) and M Habibur Rahman (additional team official).
