A match-winning knock by opener Liton Kumar saw Abahani Limited recorded an overwhelming eight-wicket victory over Prime Doleshwar Sporting Club in the second round match of Walton Dhaka Premier Division Cricket League held on Friday at the Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium at Mirpur.
Chasing a target of 148 runs set by Doleshwar, Abahani easily reached home in 37.2 overs for the loss of two wickets.
Opener Liton played an impressive knock of 98 runs but he was unlucky to get the deserving hundred giving a catch to Habibur Rahman of Elias Sunny delivery. Sunny also got the other Abahani wicket opener Abdul Majid who added 27 runs.
Sri Lankan recruit PB Bandare Rajapakse and Rakibul Hasan completed the formalities for Abahani to remain unbeaten with 19 and 1 runs respectively.
Earlier, put to bat first, Prime Doleshwar Sporting Club faced early batting debacle and finally folded their innings at a paltry total of 147 in 48.4 overs in the face of tight bowling attacks by Abahani bowlers.
Middle order batsman Habibul Rahman top scored with 41 runs while two down Dawid Malan added 21 for Doleshwar.
Nazmul Apu was the most successful bowler for Abahani Limited taking three wickets for 22 runs. He was well supported by Al-Amin, Ziaur Rahman and Shuvashish Roy, who bagged two wickets giving away 26, 26 and 34 runs respectively.
