Second dose of Covid-19 vaccine begins

The countrywide second dose of COVID-19 vaccination drive began on Thursday alongside the continuation of the first dose. Some 31,160 people will get the second dose on the first day.

A total of 5,568,703 people have taken the first dose of vaccine so far as the countrywide vaccination campaign was launched on February 7.

According to the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS), the sending of SMS for the second dose of vaccine has started from Monday. The second dose should be taken from the previous vaccination centre as per the date given in the SMS.

Dr Md Shamsul Haque, line director (MNC and AH) of the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) said, even if we get vaccinated, we have to wear a mask. The more aware we are, the more secure we will be.

“We will try to tackle the coronavirus outbreak with people from all walks of life, including doctors and nurses,” he said.

Meanwhile, the Civil Surgeon’s Office in different districts of the country has issued several directives to the people regarding vaccination.
