The Walton Second Division Chess League began at the Bangladesh Chess Federation hall-room on Tuesday. Bangladesh Chess Federation has arranged the chess competition under auspices of Walton.
First Senior Additional Director of Walton FM Iqbal Bin Anwar Dawn inaugurated the seven-day long chess competition. Vice-President of Bangladesh Chess Federation (BCF) and Chairman of the Tournament Committee KM Shahidullah, Vice-President of BCF Md Mokaddes Hossain, General Secretary of BCF Gazi Shayful Tarique and Joint-Secretary of the Federation Morsalin Ahmed were present at the time.
A total 18 teams are taking part in the event. The teams are: Sheikh Russel Chess Club, Hasan Memorial Chess Club, Bangladesh Shishu Academy, Nebula Chess Club, ChessQ, Mohammadpur Chess Club, A B Traders Chess Club, Rashulpur Daba Ghar, Dhaka Chess Club, New Nation Chess Club, Sonargaon Chess Club, Konika Sangaskritik Sangah, Pin Chess Power, Santinagar Club, Bangladesh Mohila Daba Samity, Jannat Chess Club, Gandaria Friends Chess Club and Sohel Chowdhury Chess Academy.
The champions will be awarded Tk 15,000 while the runners-up will be given Tk 10,000 as prize-money.
