SC’s proposal for creation of 11 new posts under study

Staff Reporter :Ministry of Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs is considering the Supreme Court’s proposal regarding the creation of 11 new posts, including the posts of Registrar General for the apex court and a separate Registrar for its Appellate Division.Earlier, a proposal in this regard on behalf of the Chief Justice, Surendra Kumar Sinha, has been sent to the Law Ministry, sources said. The posts are: Registrar General (1), Registrar for Appellate Division (1), Personal Secretary for Registrar General (1), Personal Assistant of Registrar General (1), Personal Assistant of the Registrar for Appellate Division (1), drivers (2) and Office staffs (4). The new posts are required to speed up the court’s function for the convenience of justice seekers, the proposal said. As per the proposal, the present Registrar of the Supreme Court will be its Registrar General. The High Court and Appellate Division of the Supreme Court will have separate Registrars. Presently, the Supreme Court’s Registrar is discharging the functions of the both divisions of the apex court. Once the proposal gets the approval of Law Ministry, it will be sent to the Ministry of Public Administration for final approval, the sources said.
