Jatiya Samajtantrik Dal (Jasod-Ambia) on Thursday called to cancel political party symbol from local government polls.
“After implementing the party symbol in local government polls, the harmony among the village people is on declining. So, the party symbol from the local polls should be cancelled,” said Jasod (Ambia) General Secretary Nazmul Haque Prodhan in a human chain in front of the Jatiya Press Club.
He said, “Even leaders from Awami League feel hesitations to join the BNP leaders’ social functions after implementing the system.”
The AL-led alliance member party-Jasod leader said, “If the party symbol cancelled from the local polls every candidates of the election will get same honor. The MP’s influence also be curbed.”
He said, the government and the Election Commission should accept this demand to keep the local election beyond the political powers’ influence.
Jasod Executive President Moinuddin Khan Badol, central leaders Dr. Mustak Hossain and Anwarul Islam Babu, among others, were present.
