Scouters at a discussion have said scouting always helps students in making disciplined, systematic and peaceful life permeated with the spirit of wisdom and tranquility.
Rangpur district unit of Bangladesh Scouts organised the discussion at the Scouts Bhaban in Rangpur to celebrate the 165th birth anniversary of the founder of scouting movement Robert Stephenson Smyth Lord Baden Powell (BP).
The day was celebrated with programs including cutting a cake, different competitions with participation of scouts, girls in guide and young students and distribution of prizes.
Rangpur District Commissioner of Scouts and District Education Officer Roksana Begum attended the discussion as the chief guest.
Secretary of Rangpur District Scouts Abdur Rahim, its Assistant Director Sudhir Chandra Barman, Treasurer Golam Azam Mantu, District Scouts Leader Rafikul Haque Babu, Deputy Regional Scouts Commissioner Siddikur Rahman, Scouters Mahbubul Alam Pramanik, Md. Akhteruzzman, Aleya Khatun, Tauhida Khatun ansd Shamsul Alam spoke, reports BSS.
Paying rich tribute to Baden Powell, the speakers said the young students should participate in scouting alongside pursuing academic and other extra-curricular activities for developing themselves as disciplined, honest, worthy and patriotic citizens.
The scouts should come forward with firm commitment and determination of serving the society as per ideals of the founder of scouting movement Lord Baden Powell to show due respect to him.
The chief guest said, “Those engaged in the scouting movement, can never be involved in antisocial activities breaking social discipline. The scouts can also play a crucial role to build a knowledge-based enlightened society free from drug addiction.”
She called upon the scouts to serve the society selflessly for making a disciplined, peaceful and developed ‘Sonar Bangla’ to materialize the dream of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.
