Speakers at the inaugural session of a daylong interschool science fair have said substantial and sustainable boosting the number of science-minded students has become indispensable for flourishing the sector of information and communication technology.
They viewed there is no way but to wide-ranging promotion of the science and technology sector to take forward the nation successfully.
Center for Capacity Building of Voluntary Organization (CCBVO) and Bangladesh Freedom Foundation (BFF) jointly organized the fair on Pirijpur High School Playground under Godagari Upazila of the district on Saturday. Science Education Development in Secondary Schools Project supported the fair.
More than 25 schools and science clubs took part in the fair displaying their scientific and ICT innovations. Main thrust of the fair was to encourage the young scientists alongside flourishing their innovative talents and building a science minded nation.
Omor Faruque Chowdhury, MP, addressed the session as chief guest with Shah Nawaj, President of PHS Science Club, in the chair. BFF Executive Director Sazzadur Rahman Chowdhury, Vice Principal of Rajshahi Teachers Training College Prof Abdus Samad Mondal, Mayor of Kakonhat Pourasava Abdul Mazid and CCBVO General Secretary Sarwar-E-Kamal spoke as special guests.
Lawmaker Faruque Chowdhury referred to various aspects of expanding science education towards doorsteps of both rural and urban students and said there is no alternative to acquiring scientific knowledge to devise ways and means how to make the nation technologically advanced.
“To build science-minded atmosphere: Technology is only the way of progress” should be our main slogan, he said.
He viewed that the nation needs creation of a more science- minded workforce to enrich the sectors of scientific research and information and communication technologies to meet its gradually increasing demand.
Later on, they visited the stalls and urged upon the participants to disseminate the innovation among others as well as the students properly so that they could be built as science-minded from beginning of their life.
