A schoolteacher who reportedly lost his mental balance for not having offspring in his long conjugal life allegedly committed suicide in Bagha upazila on Monday.
Locals said Saiful Islam, 58, a teacher of Khagrabaria Govt Primary School and son of late Abdul Mazid of Bausha Miapara, hanged himself in the early hours.
Saiful received treatment at Pabna Mental Hospital as well as in India for mental disorder, claimed Shafiqur Rahman, chairman of Bausha union parishad.
Arik Reza Sarkar, officer-in-charge (Investigation) of Bagha Police Station, said permission was given to bury the body without autopsy as there was no complaint over his death.
