Schoolgirls can play a pivotal role towards caring for their near and dear old people helping them to lead their life peacefully which is very important for their welfare.
By nature, girls take more care of their parents and as well as the traditionally has been contributing a lot towards ensuring congenial atmosphere everywhere in the society and the family as well for the welfare of the elderly people.
The observation came at the inaugural ceremony of a daylong discussion at Rajshahi Girls High School recently. More than 100 students of the school were present at the programme and the schoolgirls were given ideas of caring and nursing their respective aged parents and other close relatives.
Professional Social Workers Foundation (PSWF) organized the discussion related to devise ways and means on how to ensure a congenial atmosphere of the old people in observance of the International Day of Older Persons-2019.
Prominent social worker Shaheen Akter Rainy and Assistant Director of the Department of Social Services Dr Abdullah Al Firoj addressed the meeting as chief and special guests respectively with PSWF President Mozammel Haque in the chair.
Headmaster of the school Mahbub-Ur-Rahman and PSWF General Secretary Ansar Ali also spoke on the occasion.
The discussants unanimously stressed the need for ensuring congenial atmosphere everywhere in the society including family for the welfare of the elderly people as they are an integral part of the family and the society as a whole.
They viewed that many people become vulnerable when they are in their old age and face multifarious problems due to various reasons. They are also subjected to repression and oppression in many ways.
To mitigate the odd situation, the respective family members should take the responsibility of protecting them as there is no way to discard their contribution to the field of cultural, economical and political aspects of the country.
They mentioned that if every son and daughter pays due respect to their parents no aged people would face an unexpected condition.
