UNB, Rajshahi :
A schoolgirl was raped by a young man at Talaimari Phultala in the city early Friday.
Golam Rabbani, sub-inspector of Boalia Model Police Station and also investigation officer of the case, said Ashique Ali, 19, a wielding worker and son of Nurul Islam of Jamalpur area in the city, picked up the girl, a class IV student, from the area around 4 pm on Thursday.
Later he took the girl to his friend’s house at Talaimari Phultala and raped her there overnight.
Finding no trace of the girl, her father informed the matter to Boalia thana police who conducted a drive in the area and rescued her around 5.00 am on Friday.
Police arrested Ashique from the spot and sent him to jail.
During preliminary interrogation, Ashique confessed the matter to police.
