Schoolgirl killed in wild elephant attack

A schoolgirl was killed in an attack of wild animals at Ghonarpara area of Rajarkul union in Ramu upazila here early Friday.
The deceased was identified as Yeasmin Akter Tumpa, 11, daughter of Foyez Ahmad of the area.
Rajarkul union parishad (UP) Chairman Abdur Rahim said a herd of wild animals began attacking the Ghonarpara area at Thursday midnight. At that time, people woke from their sleeps and began to run here and there amid panic.
At the same time, the wild elephants swooped down on Foyez Ahmad’s house, and one of them held Tumpa with its trunk and threw her on the ground, leaving her dead on the spot.
Rajarkul UP Member Sahab Uddin said the wild elephants vandalised at least eight houses.
One held with counterfeit notes
 Detective Branch (DB) of police in a drive arrested a fake dollar trader along with huge counterfeit notes worth about US $ 1000 from a residential hotel in city’s Reazuddin Bazar area on Saturday.
The arrested was identified as Mohammad Shahed, 40, son of late Mohibullah, hailed from Ramgoti upazila of Laxmipur district.
