UNB, Shariatpur :
A Class-II schoolgirl was killed in a road accident at Chhatiani village in Damudya upazila on Friday morning while she was going to her school for collecting new textbooks.
The deceased was identified as Sohana Akhter, a student of Chhatiani Government Primary School and daughter of day-labourer

Ashraful Amin, officer-in-charge of Damudya Police Station, said an auto-rickshaw ran Sohana over on Gosairhat-Shariatpur road at the village around 10am while she was going to her school, leaving her critically injured. Later, she died on the way to Shariatpur Sadar Hospital.
On information, upazila nirbahi officer Asaduzzaman, upazila primary education officer Shamsul Haque visited the school.
The school authorities also suspended the book distribution. Angered at the death of the schoolgirl, locals blocked the road for an hour.
