Five people have been arrested in connection with the gang-rape of a teenage girl in Natore town on Tuesday night.
The arrested accused are identified as Roni Mia, son of one Afzal Hussain from Kanaikhali Mohalla, Natore town, Rocky, son of one deceased Mohammad Ali, and Sohan, son of one Abdul Majeed.
Besides, Mridul Hossain and his wife Mithila Parveen have also been arrested on charges of aiding and abetting the rape incident.
According to the police, the operation was started immediately after learning about the incident of rape. Three rapists were arrested from Telkupi Nuranipara of Sadar Upazila on Tuesday night. Besides, Mithila and Mridul were arrested from Haf rasta in the city on the same night.
SI Jamal Uddin of Natore Sadar Police Station said, “We launched the operation immediately after receiving the complaint of rape.
Earlier, a teenage SSC candidate ran away from Rajshahi to Natore on Tuesday (September 13) afternoon to fall in love with a young man. Later, a local friend took them to the house of Mridul and Mithila couple in Hafrasta area of the city by talking about getting married. The couple called three young men named Roni, Rocky and Sohan. Later they caught the young man and gang-raped the girl and recorded the video. Later, the victim girl and the young man who was with her informed the Natore police about the incident around 11 pm.
Later, police raided and arrested five people including three rapists.
