Police recovered the hanging body of a schoolgirl from Raypara area in the city recently.
The deceased was identified as Asha Khatun, 12, a class-VII student and daughter of Shariful Islam of the area.
Rabiul Islam, officer-in-charge of Kashiadanga Police Station, said victim’s mother Sagra Begum found Asha hanging in her bed room around 11 am and informed police.
Later, police recovered the body and sent it to Rajshahi Medical College Hospital for autopsy.
Initially, it is assumed that she might have committed suicide, police said.
Asha got married around four months back, police said quoting the victim’s family members.
