A schoolgirl, Ahir Biswas, 15 was found hanging from the ceiling fan in her room in their capital’s Moghbazar residence on Monday noon. Her family thinks she had committed suicide.
She was taken down by her family members and brought to the emergency department of Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH) where the duty doctor declared her dead.
Ahir’s uncle Barrister Tapos Kanti Bal said Ahir was a student of class X at Mirzapur Bharateshwari Homes School. She hailed from Shasikar village in
Dasar upazila of Madaripur district. Ahir’s father. Ranjit Biswas works in Brahmanbaria. Mother musician Rama Barai lives with her daughter Ahir and a son in a rented house in Gabtala area of Mogbazar.
Barrister Tapos said. “In the morning I got the news from her mother that Ahir’s door was not opening. Later I went to their house. I saw that Ahir had closed the door from inside. As soon as I broke down the door and I saw Ahir was hanging for a fan tied with a rope around her neck.”
Tapas said as she did not study properly, her mother scolded her earlier night. Ahir may have committed suicide because of that. Inspector Bachchu Mia, in-charge of DMCH Police Outpost, said the body was kept at morgue for autopsy.
