A schoolgirl allegedly committed suicide by hanging with the ceiling fan in their residence in the city’s Rupnagar area on Monday noon. The deceased has been identified as Aklima Akhter, 12, a student of Class IV at a local school, and daughter of Bablu Hossain, an inhabitant of Mirpur Housing area,
police said. Quoting the victim’s family members, Rupnagar Police Station’s Officer-in-Charge (OC) Shamim-ar-Rashid said that police recovered the hanging body from the Eastern Housing area on information.
The body had been sent to the Dhaka Medical College and Hospital (DMCH) morgue for an autopsy, the police official said.
Police are investigating the matter, the OC said.
