A schoolgirl committed suicide by hanging herself from the roof of a residence on the Baptist Mission Road of Barisal city on Saturday.
The victim has been identified as Faria Akhter Toha, 13, student of Class VI of Halima Khatun Girls’ School and daughter of Abul Kashem residing at a rented house in the Volaiya Bari area
near the garage of Manik Mia.
Abul Kalam, Ward Master of Barisal Sher-E-Bangla Medical College and Hospital, quoting family sources of the victim said that they finding Faria hanging from the roof of her bedroom brought her to SBMCH at about 12:15 PM, but the attending doctor declared her dead.
The hospital administration informed the matter to the police and preserved dead body for autopsy, Abul Kalam said.
The cause of the suicide is yet to be known, said Sakhawat Hossain, Officer-in-Charge of Kotwali Police Station.
