A schoolboy was strangled to death at Vitbila in Sujanagar upazila early yesterdayzThe deceased was identified as Emon Hossain,12, a class VI student of Kadoa High School and son of Ayen Uddin, a resident of the village. Quoting family members, officer-in-charge of Sujanagar Police Station Nur Islam said Emon went out of the house with his engine-run auto-rickshaw, from running of which he used to manage expenditure of his study, on Wednesday evening.
Later, he went missing on his way to Raypur from Shutkar More with passengers.
Locals spotted the body of Emon lying at a place at Vitbila on Thursday morning and informed police.
Police recovered the body and sent it to Pabna General Hospital morgue for an autopsy.
Police suspected that muggers might have strangled Emon and snatched his vehicle, the OC added.
A case was filed in this connection.
