A schoolboy was stabbed to death by a gang of unidentified assailants in the city’s Mirpur area on Sunday night. The deceased has been identified as Emon Sarkar, 13, a student of class VII of Mirpur Adarsha High School. He was the son of one Nazrul Islam, resident of Mirpur-6, police said.
Quoting the victim’s relatives, Mirpur Model Police Station’s Officer-in-Charge (OC) Salahuddin confirmed the matter and said that a gang of miscreants numbering four to five stabbed Emon when he was gossiping with his friends in front of their house at Mirpur Sector-6 around 10:00pm. Family members ran to the spot after hearing the screaming of Emon and took him to the Dhaka Medical College and Hospital (DMCH) where the doctors declared him dead around 11:00pm.
The OC said that Emon might have been killed over an argument with friends.
Police arrested two suspects from the spot in this connection, the police official said.
