A schoolboy was killed and five other people were injured in a clash between two groups of villagers over a trifling matter at Shimrail village in Kosba upazila on Saturday noon.
The deceased was identified as Joynul Abedin, 16, a class X student of Shimrail High School and son of Dhanu Mia of the village.
Police and locals said Joynal locked into an altercation with one Toufiqul Islam, 25, son of Naju Mia of the same village, over a trifling matter at noon.
At one stage, both groups equipped with home made arms attacked each other, leaving six people, including Joynal, injured.
Critically injured Joynal was taken to Kosba Upazila Health Complex where doctors declared him dead.
