A schoolboy named Zakir Sardar alias Rakib Sardar (14) committed suicide by hanging himself after becoming sentimental with his mother in Gournadi upazila of Barishal on early Sunday.
The incident took place at Kamalapur village in Khanjapur union of the upazila.
Zakir was a ninth grade student of Khanjapur Panjashia Secondary School in the upazila and son of Siraj Sardar, a carpenter from Kamalapur village.
According to police and family sources, Zakir’s mother scolded him on Saturday evening for not listening to her direction. Due to this, he becoming sentimental committed suicide by sticking a towel around the neck and hanging from the roof of the cow-shed on early Sunday.
Police recovered Zakir’s body and sent it to Barishal Sher-e-Bangla Medical College Hospital morgue for autopsy on Sunday.
