School teacher shot at in Nilphamari

Staff Reporter :A school teacher was shot and injured in broad-day light by some unidentified miscreants at Golmunda village under Jaldhaka Police Station of Nlphamari district on Sunday morning.The victim was identified as Madhob Chandra Roy, 55, a Senior Assistant Teacher of Golmunda High School, said Delwar Hossain Inam, Officer-in-Charge (OC) of the police station.He was admitted to Intensive Care Unit (ICU) of Rangpur Medical College and Hospital in a critical condition, the police official said. Police also picked up a man for interrogation in this connection. He was identified as Emdadul Haque, a driver of auto-rickshaw.Quoting the local people, the OC said, a group number of four miscreants shot at Madhob Chandra on his way to his school in Mominer Danga area under the upazila. Earlier, they got into an auto-rickshaw as passengers with the victim hiding their real identities. The miscreants fled from the spot by two motorcycles after the incident, he said.Madhob Chandra received two bullets at his head and another also pierced in the abdomen, the police official said.Local people recovered the victim and rushed him to the Jaldhaka Upzila Health Complex. Later, he was shifted to Rangpur Medical College and Hospital as his condition was severely deteriorated. The OC said, “The incident took place over a dispute of Tk 6 lakh in connection with an arbitrary of marriage of the victim’s brother, the OC said. Victim’s family has taken preparation for filing a case in this regard.
