Abu Hanif (60), a retired High School teacher was killed on the spot at Derboalia just in front of Sagar filling station on Khulna-Mawa Highway under Mollahat Upazila in Bagerhat district when he was ran over by a speeding passenger bus (Dhaka Metro-Ba-14-9619) of Rupasi Paribahan on Monday morning, according to a report received here.
The deceased was the son of one late Yakub Ali Molla of village Uttarkanda and was a retired Assistant teacher of Charkulia High School under the same Upazila.
It is learnt from the police and the locals that in the morning the ill-fated school teacher was going to the High School by a bicycle to attend to a meeting Teachers’ Association and when he reached the place of occurrence at about 10 am the killer bus bound for Dhaka dashed him from his behind violently. As a result, Abu Hanif was killed on the spot.
TI Shaikh Abul Hasan of Madrasaghat Highway police outpost told, the killer bus was seized; but its both driver and helper managed to escape.
