Police arrested a school teacher for allegedly raping a girl student of class seven of the same school at Kapashia Bazar area in Gazipur district on Sunday.
The arrestee was identified as Manojit Chandra Sarkar, teacher of Hari Manjuri Pilot Girls High School at Kapashia in Gazipur. A case has been filed with the concerned police station in this connection.
Police said the incident took place on Saturday afternoon when the girl went there for attending a coaching class at the coaching centre of the said teacher. The accused teacher raised a coaching centre adjacent to the
school a few years ago, local sources said. The students of the school staged protest and refrained from joining the class demanding exemplary punishment of the accused teacher.
Head Teacher of the school Abdul Malek said they will take legal action against the accused teacher.
Police said the victim would be sent to Tajuddin Ahmed Medical College on Monday for forensic test.
“Primarily it is assumed that the girl was raped. However, everything will be clear after medical test,” Officer-in Charge of Kapashia Police Station Ahsan Ullah said.
