School students save Tk 13 cr in banks

The kids (School Student) have saved Tk13 crore in banks, says Bangladesh Bank.
The report says, the students opened 14 lakh 53 thousand 936 bank accounts and deposited Tk 1,362 crore and 96 lakh so far.
The central bank has introduced the programmee to encourage the students to have the habit of saving. They can open the bank accounts with Tk 100 only. As a result they are benefited and the bank that deposit contributed to the national economy.
According the Bangladesh Bank, the city students opened 8 lakh 89 thousand 29 accounts and saved 944 crore 20 lakh taka. On the other hand, the village students opened 5 lakh 64 thousand 907 accounts and deposited 418 crore 76 lakh taka.
Report says, total number of accounts were 2,37,398 with Islami Bank, 1,86,536 with Ageani Bank, 1,71, 362 with Dutch-Bangala Bank, 1,01, 301 with Rajshahi Krishi Unnoin Bank and 84,108 with Uttara Bank.
General Manager of Bangladesh Bank Md Abul Basar said, school banking has influenced the student to have saving mind.
