Priyanka Shikdar (10), a student of Class-II of Charkhali Govt Primary School under Najirpur Upazila in Pirojpur district and daughter of one Jagadish Shikdar of village Charkhali met her tragic end when her modesty scarf (Orna) was twisted with the wheels of a battery run van on Bagerhat-Khulna Highway at Dashani Mor (squire) in Bagerhat district town on Wednesday night.
It is reported that the ill-fated girl went to her grand father’s residence at Banshbaria within Dema Unioon under Bagerhat Sadar Upazila to pay a visit there. At the night she was going to Bagerhat bus stand in order to avail a Pirojpur bound bus by the van and when it reached the place of occurrence her modesty scarf was, somehow, twisted with its wheels. As a result, she fell down from the van and her neck was strangulated. She was rushed to the Bagerhat Sadar Hospital where the doctor on duty declared her death.
