A 16-year-old Takmin of Paravat village in Gafargaon upazila of Mymensingh was raped and murdered by her boyfriend Ashikul on the night of March 23 (Monday).
Responding to a call of Ashikul that they would escape in the night, Takmin went to him near a Jame Mosque, just hundred of yards from her house.
When Taskin went there her boyfriend Ashikul raped her. From earlier his two other friends — Mahfuj and Arif — were also staying there. After raping, Ashikul and his two friends tied her head and legs with Ashikul’s turban and killed her.
Later, Ashikul, Mahfuj and Arif pulled the body and hung it with Takmin’s scarf on a tree adjacent to the mosque. Ashikul is working as Muazzin of the mosque. After a while, it was time for Fazr Azan. Ashikul gave the usual Azan. Musallies came to say Fazr prayers and Ashikul conducted the prayers. Ashikul’s friends Mahfuj and Arif also offered prayers in the same jamaat. During the prayers, the three murderers were seen normal.
The horrific incident took place on Monday night (March 23) at Paravarat village in Gafargaon upazila of Mymensingh. The deceased was the daughter of Abdul Matin, a poor farmer of the village.
In the morning, the police recovered Takmin’s hanging body from the tree adjacent to the mosque. After Fazr prayers, Musullies came out of the mosque and found the body tied with scarf on the tree. The dresses of Takimin were also seen torn in various places. Her feet were on the ground. There was a cell phone there also. Seeing the body, the Musullies informed the matter to the local UP Chairman Tariqul Islam Real and also informed the police.
Meanwhile, three days after the murder police arrested a madrasa student named Mahfuj alias Isamuudin, 18, on suspicion of involvement in the murder over his cell phone call list. Mahfuj, son of Mafij uddin of Rawna village, was a student of Jamia Arabia Kasemul Ulunm Qomi Madrasa of the upazila.
According to deceased family and police sources, the teenaged Takmin, daughter of Abdul Matin, had a love affairs with Ashikul, 18, a student of Jamia Arabia Kasemul Ulum Qomi Madrasa and a Muazzin of Paravarat village Jame Mosque. Ashikul is the son of Aynal Haque of Taratapashe village in Nandail upazila.
A special team of CID led by Mymensingh CID Crime Chief Mohammad Yusuf and a special team of police led by OC Anukul Sarker of Gafargaon Police Station surrounded the spot on the day. Takmin’s father Abdul Matin filed a case with Gafargaon police on Tuesday afternoon against unknown persons.
Additional Police Superintendent Ali Haider Chowdhury of Gafargaon Police Station, said a group of police led by OC Anukul Sarker and IO investigation Officer SI Ahsan Habib arrested Mahful on Thursday morning.
Ashiqul has been absconding since on Wednesday noon.
Imam Muzammel Haque, 47, of Jame Mosque said, as he was late, Ashikul offered Fazr prayers on that day. After the prayers, they saw a girl’s body nearby the mosque and identified it and informed the local UP Chairman Rarikul Islam Real.
Takmin’s younger sister Sumaya, 13, said that her sister slept with her on that night. She secretly used mobile set. The mobile phone set may be given by Ashikul.
Assistant Police Superintendent of Gafargaon Circle said that they used technology to unearth the mystery of the murder.
