School Football: Cox’s Bazar emerge boys, Ctg girls champions

Cox’s Bazar School team clinched the boys’ title and hosts Chittagong School team clinched the girls’ title of the Chittagong Divisional Phase of the Bangabandhu and Bangamata Begum Fazilatunessa Mujib Gold Cup Primary School Football Tournaments that concluded at the MA Aziz Stadium in the port city on Wednesday.
Divisional Commissioner of Chittagong Mohammad Abdul Mannan was the chief guest at the day’s closing function and later he distributed the prizes.
Banshkhali Ilshaboard Govt Primary School of Chittagong clinched the Bangamata Gold Cup Football title beating Chouddagram Uttar Bijoykora Govt Primary School of Comilla by 3-1 goals in the final in the afternoon.
Shipu Akhter of the winning team was adjudged the best player of the tournament, Nazmun Nahar declared man of the final while Tania Akhter named the highest scorer of the tournament netting six goals.
In the Bangabandhu Gold Cup Football, East Yuzantia Govt Primary School of Cox’s Bazar emerged champions beating Debidwar Wahedput Govt Primary School of Comilla by 3-2 goals in the final at the same venue.
Tanimul Islam of the winning team was adjudged best player of the match and the best player of the tournament while Sujon Miah named the highest scorer of the meet making eight goals.
Earlier on Tuesday, Comilla booked a seat for the Bangamata Gold Cup Football final eliminating Cox’s Bazar by 3-0 goals while hosts Chittagong moved into the final beating Rangamati by 1-0 goal in the semifinals.
In the Bangabandhu Gold Cup Football, Comilla advanced to the final eliminating Noakhali by 4-1 goals while Cox’s Bazar reached the final outplaying Brahmanbaria by 4-0 goals in the semis.
