People of Hossainpur under Kishoreganj of Sidla Union at Shaheber char are passing days in panic due to erosion of the river Brahmaputra and losing their lands and houses everyday.
The villagers are trying hard and soul to tackle the erosion .
Assistant teacher of the village Rafiqul Alam informed that the villagers are constantly throwing sand bags. For the last few years the villagers have failed to check the river erosion. In the last previous years many families are bound to shift their houses in the safeer places . Besides Shaheberchar Govt Primary school has been devoured in the river.
Headmaster in- charge Sumon Ronjon Sarkerof this school said, four room attached two storied school have been devoured in the river Brahmaputra on July 18 2017.
When some journalists reached to see the condition of erosion , the class was going on under the tree by the bank of the river recently.
Shaheber Char Govt Primary School was established on 52 decimel land in 1937. At present 227 students read in this school. In this situation students also come to school everyday . The result of this school is 100% in the last few years.
In the meantime , Hossainpur Upazila Chairman Zahirul Islam Mobin, and UNO Abdullah Al Mamun including a group visited the erosion site. Besides, Education Officer Md. Asaduzzaman, Sidla Up chairman Siraj Uddin, Al Leader Badrul Alam were also present.
Later, TK 3 thousand has been distributed to the damaged family as a financial help.
