Sylhet Metropolitan Police has taken measures for ensuring foolproof security in the Sylhet City Corporation ( SCC) ahead of the Victory Day. .
The Victory Day will be observed tomorrow and on December 16 respectively while the Christian community is looking ahead to celebrate Christmas on December 25. There will also be celebrations on the night of December 31 to welcome the year 2016.
Police said security would be extensively ramped up in the wake of the attacks made in different parts of the country over the last three months.
Police will put in place a four-tier security system on the national days. As part of intensifying security measures, checkpoints will be set up and police cars will be on patrol to avert any untoward situation.
Meanwhile, RAB said they had made two sets of plans for ensuring security – one set for December 14 and 16 while the other for Christmas and new year’s eve.
SMP Deputy Commissioner (media) Rahmat Ullah told that police high-ups had given several important directives on security ahead of the upcoming events.
