Robbers looted gold ornaments, cash and other valuables worth about Tk 45 lakh from the house of an engineer of Sylhet City Corporation (SCC) at Chawkidekhi area Sylhet city on early Monday.
Family members said a gang of armed robbers, numbering 10 to 12, stormed the house of Ruhul Alam at house no 9 at Rupsha at Chawkidekhi area around 3:00am breaking open the door and held the family members hostage at gunpoint and looted 80 grams of gold ornaments, cash, mobile phone sets, tabs and other valuables total worth Tk 45 lakh from the house.
OC of Airport Police Station Gousul Hossain said, Ruhul Alam’s housemaid Shekul Islam and former housemaid’s brother Koyes Mia were arrested to quiz in this regard.
