Sylhet Bureau :
With the Sylhet City Corporation (SCC) election approaching, candidates are out on the ground, knocking on doors, embracing people and making speeches to ensure they get every vote.
The politicians, especially the ruling Awami League candidate and his arc-rival BNP, are utilising every single minute to get their supporters to the election that is scheduled for July 30.
Candidates with their activists start their campaign early in the morning and visit different spots till midnight. They are distributing leaflets and manifestos mentioning their promises and pledges, particularly for sustainable development of the city, to woo voters.
BNP backed cendidate Ariful Haque Chowdhury and his supporters are trying to convince Sylhet city dwellers that BNP will win the next general polls. So, a BNP-backed mayor will be a logical choice for them, said sources.
Ruling Awami League-nominated mayoral candidate Badar Uddin Ahmed Kamran and his supporters also visited different spots in Sylhet City.
