Staff Reporter :The Supreme Court Bar Association (SCBA) has decided not to give farewell reception to Justice AHM Shamsuddin Choudhury Manik for a number of other allegations against him’ including ‘misconducts during his duty.The decision was taken at a meeting of the SCBA on Sunday. Secretary of the Bar Association Barrister AM Mahbub Uddin Khokon and its vice president ASM Mukhtar Kabir Khan in a statement on Monday made the disclosure citing six reason. The reasons include– misconducts of Shamsuddin Choudhury Manik were published before public in several times after his appointment, Supreme Court lawyer Advocate MU Ahmed was killed due to him while he sent Barrister Ashraf and 13 other lawyers into jail, he was British citizen during his oath, extending no help in maintaining the facilities enjoyed by the lawyers and in the construction of the bar building.The outgoing Justice will have his last working day on Thursday. According to the practice, the SCBA accords reception to the outgoing Justice.Meanwhile, the SCBA President Advocate Khandkar Mahbub Hossain said that Shamsuddin Choudhury Manik’s letter sent to the President seeking impeachment of Chief Justice SK Sinha is “unforeseen and imprudent”. He said this while talking to reporters at his office in the Supreme Court building. The SCBA President said that the Justice could send the letter to the Parliament instead of the President, as the Parliament has the power to impeach Justices.
