The Supreme Court Bar Association (SCBA) sought Tk 600 million as donation from the government fund for its members who have fallen into trouble in the ongoing crisis situation amid coronavirus pandemic.
The President and Secretary of the SCBA sent a letter recently to the government through the Law Minister.
The letter said that the lawyers were passing hard days as the activities of the courts have been suspended during the ongoing shutdown declared as a precautionary measure to combat the infection of virus COVID-19 and to prevent the spread of it. So, we are making an appeal to the government to allocate Tk 600 million for the welfare of the lawyers of the SCBA and other bars of the country so that they could overcome the ongoing difficult situation, also read the letter.
The lawyers play an important role in revenue collection of the government by giving court fees, added the letter.
SCBA President Advocate AM Amin Uddin said we made the appeal not only for the SCBA members, but also for the members of the other bars of the country.
